A year older, a year wiser- 1-year experience

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less travelled by, And that has made all the difference.” -Robert Frost

To encapsulate the experience here at BIMTECH in just a few hundred words is no easy task, given how engaging and enlightening the journey till now has been. Rolling back the days, I think of how after a few setbacks, I had to recompose myself and make the most of another opportunity to finally get a call from a very prestigious business school like BIMTECH. The choice then was not a hard one to make to come here, albeit still with a lot of nerves as going to a b-school is what one thinks of for very long and how it often tends to uplift one’s career into what is desired by most.

The journey at BIMTECH, unfortunately, started online as the nation was only beginning to see some light at the end of a very dark tunnel, which was the 2nd wave of the coronavirus, and recalling students back on campus just then wasn’t possible. However, all was not lost as I learned very early just how fast things happen here as we had weekly online sessions on various informative subject topics by industry veterans and notable faculties, an immersion program to help get everyone on the same page for subject knowledge, and not to forget the barrage of welcoming sessions accompanied by fun events that were hosted by the seniors of various clubs and conduits, all for the incoming juniors. These activities went a long way in displaying how the university doesn’t leave any stone unturned in the best interest of the students.

We had only begun with online classes but were itching to get back on campus because no matter how cozy our homes were, we couldn’t replicate the experience of being on campus with classmates, just then to our surprise we were welcomed with the news that the university was ready to call students back on campus, however, ensuring all preventive covid protocols were in place for the safety of all. In a matter of a few weeks, the campus started flooding with elated students waiting to live the residential campus life they always desired. Ever since that day, things haven’t been the same.

I could only marvel at how beautiful and large the campus was and how pictures could never do justice to it. Meeting my classmates in person and having the chance to learn from the most experienced and knowledgeable faculties was nothing short of a dream come true. Interviews for clubs and conduits had started simultaneously and it helped us bond with our seniors while also getting a taste of how professional interviews are. Continuous internal evaluations in various ways also helped nurture the critical thinking of students, getting them ready for the gruesome corporate world and also answering exams in an offline mode was also a breath of fresh air for many as it felt like after ages. Once the covid scenario became even more in control, students, as part of clubs and conduits, even got the chance to organize and host plenty of events in person for the students and faculties which was again a welcome change after a couple of years of having everything online and just not being the same in terms of how much fun it is.

The multiple industry visits, On Job Training, workshops, and guest lectures have contributed a lot towards gaining hands-on corporate exposure which will surely go a long way in shaping our careers and giving us a competitive edge over others. All in all, I can safely and happily conclude by saying that choosing BIMTECH was a correct decision as to the university with all its congenial faculty, peer-to-peer learning opportunities, extra-curricular and co-curricular activities and plenty of practical learning helps create better leaders for tomorrow. As I, along with all other students put our campus lives on hold and venture into another critical chapter of our business school life, the Summer Internship at the most renowned companies, I can’t wait to come back on campus post this, to experience yet another momentous and unfortunately with a heavy heart, the last academic year at BIMTECH.
